Total Film’s HOBBIT Mag Cover. Martin Freeman Feels No Pressure At All

The latest issue of Total Film Magazine has the cover issue photo of Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, star of next year’s first part anticipated prequel, THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY. The second part which opens the year after is called THE HOBBIT: THERE AND BACK AGAIN. Both directed by Peter Jackson.
Freeman was asked if he felt any burden or pressure playing an iconic role like Bilbo. He replied..
“I honestly don’t feel that pressure, no.”
“I really, really don’t. Of course, it is Bilbo’s journey, but I didn’t write it. I’m not directing it… It’s not my film. It’s Peter’s film.”
As you recalled, Freeman almost didn’t get to play this role because of his commitment to BBC’s Sherlock and he shared the most challenging part of shooting THE HOBBIT.
“I was sad but I thought, ‘I’ll just hate whoever plays Bilbo’,”
“The hardest thing is staying ‘up’ and peppy when you’re covered in snot or mud, day after day… I’m sure there’s more to come.”
“So far, what we’ve filmed has been more comic than heavy. I keep asking Pete [Jackson], ‘When are we going heavy?’ He assures me it’s coming!”
Don’t forget! The first teaser trailer for THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY will hit the web tomorrow at 7 PM PST and the movie arrives December 14th, 2012
