Trailer For THE LINCOLN LAWYER. Matthew McConaughey NOT In A Rom-Com

November 19, 2010Rama5 Comments,

Lionsgate has released the trailer, via Yahoo, for THE LINCOLN LAWYER and it’s good seeing Mathew McConaughey back doing legal stories like this. It’s been a while since Amistad and A Time To Kill. I like how the trailer recognizes every single key actor in this movie, not just McConaughey or not just the Oscar nominees only. Watch the trailer after the jump and let me know what you think about it..

Based on the novel by Michael Connelly, the film stars Matthew McConaughey as Mickey Haller, a greedy LA defense attorney who winds up with a case more intense than he bargained for defending a Beverly Hills playboy against a murder charge.

THE LINCOLN LAWYER opens March 18, 2011.

  1. I’m a big Michael Connolly fan and was entranced when “The Lincoln Lawyer” introduced the character of Mickey Haller. It’s a fantastic book.

This film looks very good, cast/acting/production, and if the planets are aligned correctly and the profits allow, this might start a fortunate franchise that could let us see police detective Harry Bosch work with Mickey as has happened in several books.

  2. I think he could be damn near perfect, taking into his earlier work. I haven’t seen all of his work but in 1996 his part in “Lone Star” was pitch perfect. And released that same year, “A Time to Kill,” is considered his landmark role. This film has him return to playing the part of an attorney who quickly finds himself over his head. It’s a very clever story and I see the arc of the character peeking through in this trailer.

And I have to say, that I never thought of Ryan Phillippe as Louis Roulet but I think he may be perfect for the role and this bit seems to confirm that.

    • let’s hope you’re right..
I was never too crazy about Ryan Phillippe as an actor but perhaps he’s got something here worth proving..

  3. Yeah, I know lots of people are not RP fans. But I happen to be. I thought he put in some real solid work in “Breach” and “Stop-Loss” and was the quintessential straight man in that ridiculous and ridiculously funny “MacGruber.”

We shall see. This book has a huge fan base, which sometimes is good and sometimes comes back to bite you.
