Though Danny Boyle is now an Oscar winning filmmaker of such greats as Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours, we also thank him for making such cult favorites as 28 Days Later and Trainspotting.
Talk sof TRAINSPOTTING sequel have been going for years and years but nothing has happened yet.
But Boyle who is currently at 2013 SXSW presenting his new film, TRANCE, chatted with The Playlist and said that he’s still interested in TRAINSPOTTING 2, with the original cast, and it may start production in 2016..
“This has been a long time coming,”
“There’s always been this long term plan for Trainspotting 2, if John [Hodge] can produce a decent enough script, I don’t think there will be any barriers to Ewan [McGregor] or any of the cast coming back. I think they’ll wanna know that the parts are good so they don’t feel like they are letting anyone down.
“The reason for doing it again is that people cherish the original, people remember it or have caught up with it if they never saw because they were younger. So you want to make sure you don’t disappoint people. That will be the only criteria I think.”
No word yet which direction of the story he’d take on for the sequel
But let’s watch this old trailer for the first film again, shall we!
