TRIPLE FRONTIER To Start Filming This Spring

Big time producer Charles Roven (The Dark Knight) told Shocktilyoudrop that production for director Kathryn Bigelow‘s (The Hurt Locker) next film, TRIPLE FRONTIER is expected to start sometime this spring..

It’s a big, big, big project logistically in the sense that, if the production plan happens, it’s scheduled to shoot in a number of countries both down in South America and in North America. So yeah. That’s a really fantastic project and really exciting. Working with Kathryn and Mark Boal is really great. It’s a great, great script. We’ve been on a number of location scouts and Tom Hanks is starring in the film. We’re looking to cast the other roles. We’re hoping to be able to start shooting the movie sometime in mid-March or April. That’s what our goal is right now. But, like all movies, ’till they’re up, they’re up. (Laughs) Until they’re shooting, they’re not shooting.

It’s a reunion of Oscar winning team, director Kathryn Bigelow (who’s still kinda hot, even as she’s reaching 60) and screenwriter Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker), TRIPLE FRONTIER, based on their original idea together and The Dark Knight’s Charles Roven is one of the producers. It was described in the same vein as Traffic, Boal wrote the script, a high-stakes ensemble project “set in the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil where the Igazu and Parana rivers converge, making “la triple frontera” difficult to monitor and a haven for organized crime.”
And so far, Tom Hanks is the only one attached to star.

But last month there were questions as to when they were going to shoot TRIPLE FRONTIER because variety reported that Bigelow and Boal were also shopping an untitled international low-budget thriller that’s going to start production before TRIPLE FRONTIER start date. But now with Roven’s comment, the world has an idea about which project that might go first.
