TRON LEGACY Guys To Remake THE BLACK HOLE
November 30, 2009RamaNo CommentsDisney, Joseph Kosinski, Sean Bailey, The Black Hole, Tron Legacy
The guys who’s bringing us TRON LEGACY (check out the teaser), director Joseph Kosinski and producer Sean Bailey have gone back to Disney’s old archive to find which other title from the past that they think could be rejuvenated for today’s audience. And they stumble upon an old one titled THE BLACK HOLE from 1979. It was made with a budget of $26 Million, back then that was considered hella costly, and it was Disney’s first PG rated movie…
According to Hollywood Reporter, Kosinski and Bailey are remaking this story about a research vessel that finds a missing ship, commanded by a mysterious scientist, on the edge of a black hole. Clearly I’ve never seen the original film, judging from the old trailer below, I don’t even know if I want to check it out but everything I’ve seen on TRON LEGACY has been sharp, edgy, and cool so I don’t doubt these guys’ ability to make what seems to be cheesy now becomes a new excitement and a refreshing movie watching experience.
Scribe Travis Beacham who penned the CLASH OF THE TITANS remake (check out the awesome teaser) is in charge of the screenplay for the new BLACK HOLE.
No word yet if the plot will stay the same but they promise that the menacing red robot named Maximilian would return.
On an unrelated note, let me tell you a quickie true funny story. Back in College, I took astronomy class and we all had to do presentations. On foreign exchange student got up in front of the class and did his talk on the Black Hole, but because of his thick accent, without realizing it, he kept pronouncing it ‘Black Hoe’.
The rest of us sitting in the back tried hard to keep ourselves from bursting into laughter.
