Whoa! Clint Eastwood Could’ve Played SUPERMAN And JAMES BOND!

Clint Eastwood has played a soldier, a cowboy and that ‘dirty’ badass man who asked you to go ahead and make his day. But did you know that he was actually real close to playing Man Of Steel and agent 007, I kid you not. Via IGN, in a recent LA Times interview, the legendary actor/filmmaker revealed that he was offered the superhero role by WB..

“Thank God that I didn’t have to do that,”
“I can remember – and this was many years ago – when [Warner Bros. President] Frank Wells came to me about doing Superman. So it could have happened. This was when they first started to think about making it. I was like, ‘Superman? Nah, nah, that’s not for me.’ Not that there’s anything wrong with it. It’s for somebody, but not me.”

Good call, Mr. Eastwood.
He then praised Christopher Reeve who he thought was excellent as SUPERMAN.
Besides, Eastwood was 48 at the time so he was already too old for the role but had he been 30, he still would’ve said no.

“I always liked characters that were more grounded in reality. Maybe they do super things or more-than-human things — like Dirty Harry, he has a knack for doing crazy things, or the western guys — but, still, they’re not caped crusaders.”

If you think that only Englishman should play Bond, there was a point when BOND producers themselves were considering Eastwood to play the man with license to kill.

“This was after Sean Connery left. My lawyer represented the Broccolis [the Bond series producers], and he came and said, ‘They would love to have you.’ But to me, well, that was somebody else’s gig. That’s Sean’s deal. It didn’t feel right for me to be doing it.”

ya, I think Eastwood would’ve nailed this part perfectly but I can’t imagine him doing British accent.
But what do you think?.. would he have done a better job than Roger Moore?
