Will CLASH OF THE TITANS Get 3D Treatment? We’ll Know In 10 Days
January 20, 2010RamaNo CommentsClash of the Titans, Louis Leterrier, Sam Worthington, Warner Bros.
Is it going to be 3D… or NOT 3D?? CLASH OF THE TITANS the remake once again is entering this ring for the third time around after Sam Worthington said it might get converted to 3D but director Louis Leterrier then said there’s just no time, he felt the result would be insignificant compared to James Cameron‘s AVATAR. I don’t know why Leterrier had to cut himself short like that, I thought The Incredible Hulk was awesome and that wasn’t in 3D. Heat Vision is now reporting that whether or not CLASH OF THE TITANS will be getting a 3D treatment will be decided in the next 10 days…
Keep in mind that the movie’s release date still remains on March 26th, 2010 so time is of the essence, but Warners has ordered a 3D test of the film and will screen the converted scenes next week. They will then decide, by judging those scenes, whether it’s a worthy investment to go full with a 3D conversion. AVATAR hitting a billion dollars in B.O. worldwide has gotten every studio in tinseltown wondering ‘what if’ on their 2D projects. What if their movies were turned into 3D, would they then bank a billion dollars too?
Unlike AVATAR which was shot in 3D from the beginning, if CLASH OF THE TITANS gets the greenlight, the movie will be run through a process that turns its 2D images into 3D. Much like what Pixar did with the first two TOY STORY movies that were re-released last year.
CLASH OF THE TITANS will open on the same weekend as Dreamworks Animation HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON which is also in 3D. Frankly, I don’t see it as a competition. Warners is confident that it will be be able to secure thousands of 3D screens/venues for CLASH OF THE TITANS.
In “Clash of the Titans,” the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.
CLASH OF THE TITANS opens March 26th, 2010
