Will The World Be Ok If There’s No More SEX AND THE CITY Movie?

The first Sex And The City movie in 2008 did really well at the box office, banking in $152 Million domestically, the sequel this year on the other hand, didn’t even get to cover its production budget, it only banked $95 Million, the fans and critics gave it mixed reviews, so I wasn’t surprised when my favorite Sex And The City woman, Charlotte a.k.a Kristin Davis told EOnline that she’s not that hopeful or confident about a third installment..

“I don’t think so, not that I know of. I wish it was so that we were continuing but I don’t know.”
“We made 300 million internationally,”
“There was so much hype, not coming from us, but the media hyped it up and then they tore it down.”
“I could be wrong,”
“Obviously there was a time when we thought there was no movie happening so you never know. But it is not looking great.”

But if you recalled, there’s been talks of adapting THE CARRIE DIARIES, the latest work by author Candance Bushnell, which chronicles Carrie’s high school years in Connecticut.
This origin story includes Carrie’s first date, Carrie’s first fashion encounter, and the first time she loses her virginity… but it will definitely lead to Carrie’s first summer in New York City.
The studio is more interested in turning this into a movie instead of developing it as a TV series.
Since the focus is on Carrie, more than likely the rest of the girls won’t show up, so there will be no need to cast actresses to play Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte. Bushnell has already started working on the sequel book to THE CARRIE DIARIES..so this teen Carrie movie could be the start of its own new franchise. But this is still just a possibility.. no confirmation yet.
