X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE Pirate Goes To Federal Prison!
December 20, 2011RamaNo CommentsX-Men Origins: Wolverine

Do you remember back in 2009, a month before X-Men Origins: Wolverine hit theaters, out of the blue all of a sudden, the entire movie got leaked to the web, and I’m even not talkin’ about bootleg lo-quality crapola, it was the good quality but with unfinished VFX?!
It got 20th Century Fox furious and I don’t blame them at all! Well, fast forward to today, Hollywood Reporter said the case is closed and the person responsible, well, one of them at least, received his punishment..
New York film pirate by the name of Gilberto Sanchez who uploaded the unfinished copy of X-Men Origins: Wolverine online has been found guilty and sentenced to one year in federal prison. Ouch!
U.S. District Judge Margaret Morrow called his actions “extremely serious”
But get this.. Sanchez uploaded the movie after he bought it on a street corner near his home in the Bronx. So the law enforcement never actually caught whoever the thief was that sold the copy on the streets. The copy of the film itself was a copyrighted work that was prepared for commercial distribution.
But of course they need to make a lesson out of Gilberto, as they should, because remember kids, piracy sucks balls!
Despite what happened, X-Men Origins: Wolverine still successfully banked $373 Million worldwide, but I’m sure Fox keeps wondering if they’d made more money if the movie hadn’t been leaked.
It didn’t matter which way to me because I thought the movie was royally disappointing.
