Zak Penn Will Rewrite THE KARATE KID Sequel

I actually enjoyed THE KARATE KID remake in 2010 starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. Sure it was nothing like the film that we grew up with but hey, that’s a good thing, it didn’t try to ruin the original, plus the tournament fight scene at the end, was pretty badass. Too bad the film opened on the same weekend as The A-Team which lost at the box office competition big time.
Variety reported that Columbia Pictures is moving forward with THE KARATE KID sequel and has hired scribe Zak Penn (Elektra, The Incredible Hulk) to rewrite the script previously drafted by Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris.
2010′s THE KARATE KID banked $55.6 Million domestically and $359 Million worldwide, a huge success.
The sequel’s plot is kept secret for now but Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan will return and reprise their role, their deals however are not officially locked in at the moment.
