ZOMBIELAND 2 Is Not Happening Anytime Soon.. Fine By Me

Back in September of last year, screenwriting team behind 2009′s awesome hit, Zombieland, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, has reportedly completed and submitted ZOMBIELAND 2 script to Sony. Director Ruben Fleischer who helmed the first film, has read the script but wasn’t sure if it’s going to be his next project cause he’s got a lot on his plate. Recently, while promoting his new movie 30 MINUTES OR LESS which stars Jesse Eisenberg who also starred in Zombieland, Fleischer emphasized again, via comingsoon, that ZOMBIELAND 2 is not likely to happen anytime soon because everybody’s busy doing other things..

“I can promise you it’s something we all want to do,”
“I think the reality of it happening is getting less and less real. It’s just harder and harder every day, because everybody’s gotten really busy and the reality is that we’ve never had a script that we’ve all just fallen in love with. Until there’s a script that we all can say, ‘This is it,’ it’s more of an idea than an actual thing that we can work towards prioritizing and realizing.”
“It’s not like it’s going to pick up right where they left off. I think some time passage might be cool.”

Emma Stone is committed to the new SPIDER-MAN franchise which may unleash more sequels after next year’s THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN
Woody Harrelson is part of THE HUNGER GAMES adaptation which will make way to 2 more installments.
And Fleischer is set to direct WB’s crime thriller GANGSTER SQUAD
Look, as much as I’d love the idea of ZOMBIELAND 2, I think one movie was good enough because let’s face it, sequels tend to suck and we want to regard Zombieland as instant classic.
