ZOMBIELAND Scribes To Write DEADPOOL

I wanted Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to somehow pull a coup d’etat on GHOSTBUSTERS 3 script and do a rewrite but that’s not the project that they’re going to be tackling. Zombieland left such an awesome impression that according to Variety, 20th Century Fox has hired Reese and Wernick to write the screenplay for the live action DEADPOOL starring Ryan Reynolds…

Reynolds will be doing his GREEN LANTERN gig first before entering this other big budget project. The character creator Rob Liefeld previously said that DEADPOOL movie is going to break the 4th wall and the red antihero will be “tortured, clever, a bastard and mucho action”
The report says because Reynolds is all fit for GREEN LANTERN, he’s already going to be buff and in shape enough for DEADPOOL. Correct me if I’m wrong, but hasn’t Reynolds always been buff and fit even when he didn’t have any movie gigs to do?!

The script is expected to be ready by this summer. Reese and Wernick will stay true to the mythology cause they don’t wanna offend “Reynolds who is a huge fan and protector of the property”.
Producer Lauren Schuler Donner once hinted a bit on the direction of the story…

I want to ignore the version of Deadpool that we saw in Wolverine and just start over again. Reboot it. Because this guy talks, obviously, and to muzzle him would be insane.
Wade Wilson is a guy who unfortunately gets cancer, and volunteers for a test that will give him healing powers. He is a bad ass, a wise-cracking mercenary, who will go out and kill anyone for money. But the thing about him is that, underneath it all, and he wouldn’t want you to know this, sometimes he’s not such a bad ass after all. Sometimes he does the right thing.
